Situated in the centre of popular local attractions, you are five minutes from the start of the Rutherglen wine region or 20 minutes to historical towns. It is a great location to have a day trip to the snowfields, with Falls Creek and Mt Buffalo being only 90 minutes away.
Your hosts are more than happy for you to come along with them and get up close to the animals. You can help feed the animals, check if the chickens have laid some eggs or help groom the animals. There is plenty of time for patting the animals as well. Please note – farm experience is for stays of 2 nights or more only.
Once the animals have been taken care of, the farm has a large dam where you can try your hand at yabbying or try to strike it rich by gold panning in Frying Pan Creek that runs through the property. You can explore a little further with a bushwalk in Chiltern / Mt Pilot National Park or bring your own boat and spend a day at the Hume Weir or the Murray River fishing or skiing.
Cookinburra Park adjoins the Chiltern – Mt Pilot National Park, renowned for its bird watching, mountain bike riding, trail bike riding, 4WD tracks and horse trails.
If you would like to be a “Junior Farmer”, Farmer Mike is sure to give you some chores to do like collecting firewood, feeding out hay and even helping out with the sheep. Upon successful completion of your tasks, you will be presented with your very own certificate to take home and show all your friends at school. Please note – farm experience is for stays of 2 or more nights only.
If you are lucky you might even visit while there are some baby animals appearing as we can have chickens hatching and new lambs being born. If you are interested to visit during these times, feel free to contact us to find out what the best time is to visit to not miss out on the amazing experience.
For the horse enthusiast, we have 3 purpose built stables and yards to accommodate your own horses safely. We have excellent tracks throughout the Chiltern / Mt Pilot National Park which adjoins the property, taking in some breathtaking views of the valleys and mountains. We are also in a very good position just off the Hume Freeway, for those wishing to break their drive from Sydney to Melbourne when attending shows.
